Program Windows

After the communication between your PC and the Homer has been successfully established, the main program window and possibly some additional windows appear on the screen (Fig. 15).

Note: The appearance of the windows may vary depending on the operating system on your PC.

The windows can be classified as:

  • Main Window

  • Display windows

  • Dialog windows

Please note that the appearance of the windows on your PC may slightly differ from the illustrations in this document, depending on the HomSoft version and your Microsoft Windows settings.

Main Window

The Main Window is the standard Windows program framework. The window includes a menu bar, two toolbars at the top (Standard toolbar, Signal toolbar), and a Status bar at the bottom. Most importantly, Main Window is the container (parent) for practically all program windows; these are its child windows, i.e., they can be moved only within the Main Window borders.

Display Windows

Display windows show the measured results graphically in a variety of formats (e.g., magnitude or phase of reflection coefficient, VSWR, Smith chart, powers incident on, reflected from and absorbed in the load, etc.). New display windows can be freely added. The type and format of data to be displayed can be changed for each window. The plots can be scaled manually or automatically. The appearance of the displayed traces (color, width, etc.) can be modified. For details, see section Display Windows.

Dialog Windows

Dialog windows are used for entering data inputs, launching actions and displaying information of various kinds. Examples of some important dialog windows are shown in Fig. 15 (Maxi Results window, Tuner View window and System Info window).

While some windows (like those shown in Fig. 15) can be present permanently on the screen, other windows (like Save/Load dialogs) must be closed before any other action is permitted. The position of these modal windows is not limited by the Main Window borders.

Various dialog windows will be described where appropriate.
